This guide will show you how to setup your Project Zomboid server for the first time.

When first setting up your Project Zomboid server, there are a few steps you must make before you can play. Every Project Zomboid server needs their admin password defined on creation. This quick guide will teach you exactly how to do that, and other additional configurations at the bottom of this page.

 

Setting up an Admin Password

1. First, login to the Game Panel (click this link for easy access) then go to your Game Service.

Click on the "Start" button to start the server.

2. On the left-hand side panel, go to the Web Console section.

3. There, you'll be asked to type your preferred admin password. Type the password you've chosen in the text box.

Once you press enter, you will be asked to type it once again.

4. After entering the password twice, you should see in the Web Console that the server is finishing its setup.

Once setup is finished, you should get this message that shows your server has started.

5. Head back to your Game Panel and restart your server to ensure the settings are applied and saved.

You can do that by pressing the "Restart" button.

6. You may now be able to connect to your Project Zomboid server and play!

I can't find my server in the in-game list. What do I do?

Make sure your server is up to date by following this guide.  Have you also set an admin password in the Web Console? If not, follow this guide! Failing that, are you sure the name you are searching for is currently assigned? See this Configuration guide to make sure.
